Basic approach
We are involved in various activities together with local government and communities so that we can listen to the opinions of people from the community and assist them in leading more prosperous lives.
Assistance to regions
affected by the Great East
Japan Earthquake
Group provides all-out assistance effort
The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011,
inflicted extensive damage in northeast Japan. AISIN
is making an all-out effort across the entire Group to
assist Group companies, clients and residents in the
regions affected by the disaster.
Donation of relief funds
The 12 main AISIN Group companies jointly donated
¥100 million through the Central Community Chest of
Japan to aid in the recovery of the devastated regions.
Delivery of relief goods
In response to the disaster, AISIN Group companies
coordinated to collect relief goods such as bottled
drinks, instant foods like instant noodles, and everyday
items including blankets and batteries. Delivery of
relief goods by trucks commenced on the day after
the earthquake. A total of 45 tons of goods were
sent to the disaster regions, client companies and
AISIN Group companies.

Providing assistance through our own products
We modified our gas cogeneration units to build a
system that can supply power and hot water in regions
without power, and installed this system, along with
shower rooms, onto trucks. Since June 2011, we
have been dispatching these “energy vehicles” to
isolated evacuation centers to provide electricity and
hot water showers.
In particular, the private shower rooms are proving to be extremely popular with evacuees.

Personnel assistance in the disaster area
Immediately after the disaster, we dispatched a team
of personnel from the general affairs, production
management, production technology, maintenance,
and other divisions, to provide recovery assistance to
our partners and subsidiaries and distribute relief
goods in the disaster region.
From June, Aisin Seiki employees participated as
volunteers in a relief assistance initiative jointly organized
by 15 Toyota Group companies. The participants
underwent initial training to deepen their understanding
of local conditions and then took part in tasks such as
debris removal or drain clearance. The Toyota Group had
dispatched six volunteer teams as of the end of July
2011. We intend to continue dispatching volunteers
in response to the needs of the regions.

Fund-raising activities by employees
We collected donations from employees of AISIN Group
companies both in Japan and abroad. In addition,
members of the AISIN Sea Horses, our basketball team,
took part in street fund-raising. Approximately ¥57 million
was raised, which was donated as relief funds.

Encouraging voluntary activities
Soccer lessons for handicapped people
We are engaged in special Olympic activities aimed at enabling handicapped people to experience the enjoyment to be gained from sport and to enable them to play a more active role in society through the medium of sport.
Voluntary activities involving the Department Head Group and the Section Head Group
Every year, centering on the Association of General Managers and the Association of Managers, AISIN engages in various voluntary activities such as cleaning up welfare facilities and making donations and activities involving conservation of fireflies in Nishio City in Aichi Prefecture.
Promoting employees' volunteer activities
In October 2009, Aisin AW launched its Social Contribution Point System to award points for participation in volunteer activities.
IPoints can be exchanged for donations to NPOs through the company, or for products from fair trade groups and vocational aid centers. The program aims to get employees actively and eagerly engaged in volunteer activities.
Promotion of charities
Holding concerts that people with disabilities can readily enjoy
AISIN has held the Aisin Sawayaka (“refreshing”) Concert every year since 2003. These concerts enable local community members and employees with disabilities to enjoy classical music and other events along with their families. We pay careful attention to installing wheelchair paths at the concert venue.
Courses in friendly communication
In collaboration with regional organizations such as social welfare councils in nine cities in Aichi Prefecture, we are holding a course that we hope will give residents the chance to take part in volunteer activities.
Supporting sale of products from workshops for the disabled
Aisin Seiki provides a space in its cafeteria for the sale of bread, desserts, and more on behalf of an organization operating a bakery and supporting employment for disabled persons. At lunchtime, many of our employees purchase the sandwiches and desserts delivered by the group.
Participation in Table for Two activities
From January 2010, Aisin Seiki has participated in Table for Two (TFT), a program tying food aid for developing nations with the elimination of the lifestyle-related illnesses in developed nations.
Under the program, 10 yen from the price of cafeteria meals designated as healthy, and 10 yen in matching funds from the cafeteria operator company, combine for a total of 20 yen in donations that provide a meal for a child in the developing world. Through June 2010, we succeeded in supplying about 10,000 meals through the program. We plan to extend our participation to additional locations.
Donations to NPOs
The All AISIN NPO Activities Support Fund, composed of 12 main companies, makes annual donations to NPOs and volunteer groups in Aichi, Fukui, and Toyama prefectures, homes to our Company sites. The donation funds come from charity concert collections and contributions from employees.
