Fostering of Youth

AISIN proactively implements an experience-based learning program for children on topics ranging from the environment to mono-zukuri. Designed to instill the importance of nature and the joy of creating, the program encourages children to think for themselves and take initiative.

Major Activities in Fiscal 2007

AISIN Environmental Education Program (June 2006 - Feb 2007)

AISIN carried out an environmental education program at elementary schools in five nearby communities. The program consisted of four themes (forest, waterfront, daily living and industry), with learning conducted through classroom lectures and experience.

Through hands-on learning, including observing forest management and water ecosystems and a trip to the recycling facilities at the AISIN Eco Center located at Aisin Seiki's Handa Plant's, the program is aimed at encouraging children to realize the importance of protecting the environment and to think about and put into practice their own eco-friendly activities.

As a culmination of the program, in February 2007 AISIN also held an “Eco Talk Session” at two elementary schools to promote environmental awareness and mutual cooperation. The fruits of a half-year of learning were discussed and presented in front of parents, children and educators and included a presentation entitled “Eco-friendly Activities We Can Start Practicing Now.”

Aisin Mono-zukuri Hiroba (Mar. 17, 2007)

While children are said to be drifting away from science, the Aisin Mono-zukuri Hiroba (“Making Things Plaza”) is held to help children learn about and understand the fun of science by experiencing and experimenting with the fundamental principles of science. In fiscal 2007, on the fifth occasion of this activity, 51 children participated in a session themed “Let's Learn About the Principles of Balance,” where they built wind mobiles to learn not only about hanging weight but also the principles of how distance from a fulcrum point changes equilibrium.

Supporting Invention Clubs for Boys and Girls

In order to let children experience the joy of making things and using their minds, AISIN not only provided economic support to invention clubs for boys and girls in nearby cities but also sent company volunteers, mainly from its Engineering Technicians Association, to provide instruction on mono-zukuri.
