AISIN Launches In-house Demonstration at Anjo Plant Toward Social Implementation of Perovskite Solar Cells

Apr. 7, 2025

News Release

AISIN CORPORATION launched an in-house demonstration1 of perovskite solar cells at the Anjo Plant in March 2025.

Perovskite solar cells are next-generation solar cells characterized by being thin, lightweight, and flexible. Because they can be installed in areas where installation of conventional silicon solar cells is difficult, such as building walls, they are expected to contribute to the spread of renewable energy.
AISIN’s perovskite solar cells feature high power generation efficiency, which is realized through more than 20 years of R&D on solar cells, and high durability, which is derived from a proprietary film structure using thin glass by leveraging the manufacturing capabilities cultivated in the manufacture of automotive components.

For this demonstration, perovskite solar cells will be installed in stages on four walls and on roofs of facilities at the Anjo Plant site to evaluate power generation as a system, installability, and operation via grid connection, which is the first of its kind in Japan.2 The power generation capacity will reach about 30 kW by the end of September 2025. Differences in the power generation amount depending on the direction and solar radiation intensity, as well as the construction time, costs, and abnormality management, will be verified to identify issues and study solutions toward social implementation of perovskite solar cells.
AISIN will conduct demonstrations in and outside the company while increasing the installation areas of perovskite solar cells to promote R&D toward early practical application, thereby contributing to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.

AISIN will continue to promote technological development to improve the environment and society, thereby realizing the AISIN Group Philosophy: Inspiring “movement,” creating tomorrow.
