AISIN CORPORATION today announced that a hybrid unit* developed by AISIN will be installed in the Xforce HEV, which was unveiled in Thailand by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

The Xforce HEV is a hybrid model of the Xforce, a stylish and rugged compact SUV which is characterized by comfort, practicality, and safe and reliable drivability.

The hybrid unit which has been adopted is AISIN’s first series-parallel model, which was jointly developed with Mitsubishi Motors. Motor driving and engine driving can be optimally switched between depending on the driving situation by adopting a dog clutch separation mechanism, to which manual transmission technology is applied. High fuel efficiency and driving performance can be realized without reducing the ease of vehicle installation.

This product will be manufactured at AISIN Powertrain (Thailand) Co., Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary in Thailand. This will be the first electric unit to be manufactured by AISIN in the ASEAN region. AISIN has been steadily working to build a global production system for electrification.

*The hybrid unit which has been adopted consists of a drive motor and a gearbox. It will be sold directly by AISIN to Mitsubishi Motors.
