     Aisin Corporation’s three subsidiaries in Indonesia* will purchase the renewable energy value of the electricity generated at the Rajamandala Hydropower Plant, in which the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka; President: Takashi Morimoto) has invested, as I-REC in order to source a portion of the electricity used in Indonesia from renewable energy sources.

     With the aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Aisin is actively promoting the introduction of renewable energy across the world, and this is the first time for Aisin to apply I-REC in Indonesia.

     With the introduction of I-REC, approximately 20% of the electricity used by Aisin’s subsidiaries in Indonesia in fiscal year 2021 will come from renewable energy sources. By gradually introducing I-REC to other subsidiaries in Indonesia, Aisin aims to increase the percentage of renewable energy sources to approximately 70% by fiscal year 2025.

     The CO₂ emissions of the entire Aisin Group is expected to be able to be reduced by a cumulative total of approximately 320,000 tons from fiscal 2021 to 2025.

     Furthermore, Aisin’s subsidiaries in Thailand have also introduced I-REC since February 2021, and approximately 17% of the electricity used in Thailand in fiscal 2021 is expected to come from renewable energy sources.

     Aisin will actively promote the introduction of renewable energy starting in Asia, where the share of renewable energy in the power generation supply is small, to achieve carbon neutrality toward realizing a sustainable society.
