Aisin Seiki to Establish New Base for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development “Tokyo Research Center” in Akihabara

In recent years, the Aisin Group has been reinforcing a development framework aimed at promoting AI development indispensable for product development, responding to CASE and automation and efficiency enhancement of production sites.
Aisin Seiki is striving to secure talented human resources and improve the development environment by increasing personnel performing global control of advanced technologies within the group at the Head Office, the core of AI development, as well as locating development centers at locations convenient for facilitating smooth cooperation with other industries and academic organizations and timely access to state-of-the-art information.
Aisin Seiki established the Daiba Development Center, which serves as a base for algorithm development employing AI and hardware development to put these innovations into practice, in 2017 and the Kyushu Development Center Hakata Laboratory, which serves as a base for development of image analysis utilizing AI for monitoring the surroundings of a vehicle and estimating passengers' status, in 2019.
The Tokyo Research Center to be newly established will be located in Akihabara, which is prospering as a global base for the IT industry, and will be aimed at quickly acquiring state-of-the-art AI technologies to roll them out to the Aisin Group by concentrating personnel with outstanding AI skills.
Mainly in the metropolitan Tokyo area, remote work has been mainstreamed during the coronavirus pandemic, and to accelerate AI development, the latest facilities that have the capacity of performing a vast number of calculations without stress are indispensable. Sufficiently equipped with such facilities, this center is aimed to be an attractive workplace for creating new ideas and thinking by providing a modern and functional office area, theater room used for multiple purposes, and refreshing space for pleasant communication.
