Aug. 4, 2020
News Release
Three research companies engaged in leading-edge research in the AISIN Group―Aisin Cosmos R&D Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kariya, Aichi; President: Hitoshi Tauchi; hereinafter "AI-C"), IMRA Material R&D Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kariya, Aichi; President: Toshiro Kawakami; hereinafter "IMRA R&D") and IMRA Japan Co., Ltd. (Head office: Sapporo, Hokkaido; President: Masao Ando; hereinafter "IMRA Japan")―signed a basic agreement to have discussions on their management integration.
Since 1978, the AISIN Group has constructed a framework for keeping track of trends of the new times to utilize them for its research and development activities by establishing research companies engaged in leading-edge research in and outside Japan and building partnerships with universities, research institutions and other organizations in each region. To accelerate the response to a new society and new needs, such as those in CASE-related fields, in the future, it is important not only to conduct individual research at each research company but also to further strengthen capabilities for research and development utilizing a global network and pushing ahead with commercialization.
Taking advantage of this management integration, the AISIN Group will establish an agile global leading-edge research structure for uniting to push ahead with commercialization.
Aiming to transform into a corporate structure with high profitability, the group is currently identifying items for elimination and consolidation among 87 domestic and overseas subsidiaries to implement initiatives for elimination and consolidation one after another. As part of such initiatives, the group will enhance the efficiency of projects and resources that overlap among these three companies to shift them to fields where they can be strengthened.
From now on, the three companies and their parent companies Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. and Aisin AW Co., Ltd. will have discussions on details, with the objective of achieving management integration among the three companies in April 2021.
The AISIN Group will work together to help with cooperative development of the world by promoting leading-edge research and establishing a technological foundation.
