Aisin to exhibit at Copenhagen 2018 ITS World Congress
Sep. 10, 2018
News Release
The Aisin Group*1 including Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. will exhibit at the Copenhagen 2018 ITS World Congress, which will be held at Bella Center (Copenhagen, Denmark) from Monday, September 17 to Friday, September 21.
The concept of this exhibition will be "Future Mobile Life that Makes Dreams Come True," and we will present technologies that bring happiness in three ways: "connecting you and society," "delivering the joy of mobility," and "keeping you safe," with five technologies under development in the "Connected Cars" field exhibited for the first time.
1. Risk Prediction Technology that Considers Changes in Surrounding Environment
This system obtains data necessary to prevent hazards during driving in advance from the front camera feed, map data, and big data in the cloud, and presents appropriate driving actions for each situation to the driver, aiming to enable anyone to drive defensively, like a model driver. In the demonstration cockpit, actual scenery, computer-generated image and the risk prediction results are displayed superimposed, so viewers can experience the system's support for themselves.
2. Services Using Road Condition Evaluation from Vehicle date
This system estimates road surface conditions from data from in-vehicle sensors and actuators, and generates added value from big data collected based on location information. It is envisioned as being able offer safe and comfortable route proposals for truck drivers and drivers in general, and also to enable road managers to carry out efficient road maintenance.
3. Logistics Support System(Transport Management)
Through cloud services such as calculation of differentials between delivery plans and actual status, and creation of routes optimized for logistics based on route search technologies and high-precision arrival time prediction technologies cultivated in Car Navigation Systems, shippers and logistics companies can check delivery status in real time on a website.
4. Emotion Estimation Technology
We will present a demonstration of a system that gauges drivers' emotions using FACS*2 technology, which quantifies the movement of facial muscles. Emotions such as happiness and anger are detected by AI and shown on the display.
5. ILY-Ai (2018 model)
The ILY-Ai, Aisin's personal mobility prototype vehicle, meets diverse user needs by switching into four modes: Vehicle, Scooter, Cart, and Carry. It is equipped with intelligent safety technology that utilizes cameras and 2D and 3D lasers to assist with daily living. Now, this new model has a new feature that predicts the risk of collisions, falling off edges, and falling down using in-motion obstacle avoidance technologies and real-time simulations.

*1: The Aisin Group's 14 core companies are Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd., Aisin Takaoka Co., Ltd., Aisin Chemical Co., Ltd., Aisin AW Co., Ltd., Aisin Keikinzoku Co., Ltd., Aisin Development Co., Ltd., Aisin Kiko Co., Ltd., Aisin AI Co., Ltd., Aisin Sin'ei Co., Ltd., Aisin AW Industries Co., Ltd., Hosei Brake Industry Co., Ltd., ADVICS Co., Ltd., Shiroki Corporation, and Art Metal Mfg. Co., Ltd. (In addition to the three companies underlined and in bold type, the exhibitors included IMRA Europe S.A.S. and AW Technical Center Europe S.A., for a total of five companies)
*2: FACS (Facial Action Coding System)... A system that quantitatively codes the movements of facial muscles based on anatomical principles.
Emotions are gauged by correlating facial expressions with emotions defined quantitatively using this system.
