Aisin Seiki to open new development bases in Kyushu and Tokyo, strengthening electronic systems development framework

Aug. 6, 2014

News Release

Aisin Seiki will open two new development bases, in Kitakyushu and in Tokyo, in order to reinforce our framework for development of automotive electronic systems.

In recent years, various parts of automobiles are motorized and computer-controlled with increasing sophistication, and demand for electronic engineering expertise for systems development is growing by the day. Until now, Aisin Seiki has primarily carried out domestic design and development of automotive parts in Aichi Prefecture, where our head office is located, but in expanding with new development bases in Kyushu and Tokyo, we will boost our number of personnel and strengthen our electronic systems development framework to address this demand.

In Kyushu, we will establish the Electronic System Development Dept. Kyushu Development Center in the Kitakyushu Science and Research Park complex in the city of Kitakyushu. The Center will be engaged in development of element technologies that are essential to automotive safety, such image recognition, spatial recognition and automotive control systems.

In Tokyo, at the new Electronic System Development Dept. Tokyo IC (Integrated Circuit) Center, we will work on semiconductor design and device development geared toward increasing the intelligence of our mechanical systems such as motorized pumps and power sliding doors, one of Aisin Seiki's areas of strength.

Moving forward, we will put resources into product development of systems that integrate the Aisin Group's extensive range of functional parts, focusing on the three areas of "environment," "safety," and "comfort," and work on further development of state-of-the-art technologies.
