On December 20, 2012, cumulative production of ATs*1 at Aisin AW Co., Ltd., reached 100 million.
The milestone came 43 years and 3 months after Aisin-Warner Limited, Aisin AW's predecessor, began production of its first AT, the RW 3-speed Toyoglide (for the Crown and Century), in October 1969.
Of the occasion, President Mutsumi Kawamoto said:
This accomplishment was made possible by the large number of customers and suppliers who have offered their support since the company's founding, and I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to them. I would also like to thank our predecessors, who overcame numerous challenges, and everyone who works today in the AW Group, where they continue to address the various challenges facing its companies. We will feed on the joy of reaching the 100 million mark as we focus the Group's capabilities, resources, and energy on achieving even greater success in the future.
In order to meet the expectations of customers worldwide and live up to its corporate philosophy of "Quality Supremacy" going forward, the Group will come together with the shared goal of developing and manufacturing appealing products.
