Five companies in the Aisin Group*1 including Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. will jointly exhibit at the 20th ITS World Congress Tokyo 2013*2, held from Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18 at Tokyo Big Sight.
The theme of the exhibit will be "Human-Friendly Mobility for the Achievement of Secure and Fun-Filled Sustainable Communities." The Aisin Group booth will feature three solutions illustrating our concept of how people and automobiles will interact in the future, incorporated into a driving simulator offering a virtual experience. There will also be panels displaying the contents of eight technical papers that the Aisin Group will present during the event, and exhibits of products related to their contents.
During the showcase (outdoor demonstration) program at the venue, we will present a range of technologies that provide "Support for Safety in Community Zones," employing automotive cameras, navigation systems and brake systems to demonstrate the ways the Aisin Group is helping to keep communities safer.

1.Contents of virtual experience with driving simulator
Three solutions illustrate the Aisin Group's technologies, services and systems.
(1) "Next-generation HMI and automatic parking" supports the user with navigation information, guiding the vehicle into the parking space and otherwise providing unobtrusive door-to-door support.
(2) "AR guidance, distraction alarm and automatic brake" employs sensors inside and outside the vehicle to maximize safety by notifying user of hazards and enabling avoidance.
(3) "Integrated vehicle control" provides integrated control of forward movement, turning and stopping, delivering an exciting driving experience in which the vehicle seems to be controlled like part of the body.

2.Outline of "Support for Safety in Community Zones" showcase
In recent years there has been a trend toward establishing Community Zones aimed at ensuring the safety of people in residential areas. In the showcase we present technologies that can be applied in these community zones, including parking (automatic parking in difficult-to-park locations), technologies that detect pedestrians, etc. when the car is in motion and inform the driver, and alarms that sound when the driver performs an unsafe action.
The demonstration will show how when the vehicle enters a community zone it switches into pedestrian priority mode, detecting pedestrians and informing the driver, or sounding alarms when the driver engages in risky behavior. Users will also be able to try out the automatic parking function.
