AISIN CORPORATION received the Red Dot Design Award 2023 for its WINDSCELL, a skin treatment device that utilizes ultra-fine water particles called “AIR” (a-i-ru).

The Red Dot Design Award is a design award established in 1955 and is one of the world’s three major design awards, along with the iF Design Award (Germany) and the IDEA Award (USA). The Red Dot Design Award is organized by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, and award winning designs are determined by world-class design experts in three categories: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design and Design Concept. Each year over 18,000 applications are received from companies, organizations and designers from more than 70 countries.

WINDSCELL received the award in recognition of its innovation in incorporating the technology for AIR, the world’s smallest^*1 water particles, into the product, and of its design that gives a clean and gentle impression suitable for beauty clinics with its simple, round and smooth form.

This is a skin treatment device exclusively for medical institutions equipped with the technology to convert moisture in the air into ultra-fine water particles called “AIR,” the world’s smallest water particles of approximately 1.4 nanometers (1/1000 to 1/5000 of those produced by general steam vaporizers). This technology was developed by combining the moisture conditioning technology, cultivated in living space research, and the cartridge technology used for exhaust gas treatment in automobiles. This device provides a water retention effect on the skin and at the same time delivers beauty ingredients and medicines deep into the skin,^*2 allowing the treatment to be performed safely without direct contact with the skin.
