AISIN Declares Its Commitment to Acquiring SBT Certification

AISIN Corporation has declared its commitment to acquiring SBT certification by submitting a commitment letter to SBTi,* the organization which certifies Science Based Targets (SBTs). SBTs represent greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets that are scientifically consistent with the target set in the Paris Agreement.
As part of its value proposition, AISIN set a goal of “Bringing a sustainable environment to the future” and declared its commitment to realizing carbon neutrality across the life cycle of its products by FY2050 in order to realize a carbon-neutral society in terms of production and products.
In terms of production, AISIN aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by FY2030 (compared to FY2013 levels) and achieve carbon neutrality in the 2030s. The Company will develop and introduce energy saving solutions, renewable energy, CO2 capture and utilization technologies, and waste heat utilization technologies. The Company will also promote methanation and fixation of CO2 and the recycling of materials and waste.
In terms of products, AISIN will promote reduction of CO2 emissions in society by developing and implementing products for electric vehicles, including battery electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles, and clean energy-related products, such as ENE-FARM home-use fuel cell cogeneration systems.
Through these activities toward carbon neutrality, AISIN will contribute to promoting the recycling of energy in local communities and widespread use of CO2 emissions reduction technologies through activities aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

An international initiative jointly established by four organizations in 2015: CDP, United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
