The new history of the Aisin Group started today. I believe that all of you have mixed feelings of expectation and anxiety.
I would like to explain again why we were merged at this moment. Approximately 50 years ago, to develop automatic transmissions, the latest technology at that time, a company called Aisin-Warner was spun off from Aisin Seiki.
Currently, it is considered almost certain that conventional automatic transmissions will become unnecessary in the future due to the acceleration of vehicle electrification toward the achievement of carbon neutrality, and thus it became meaningless to remain divided into two companies. For this reason, to survive in this once-in-a-century great transformational era, we merged our business operations in order to move toward reform of the corporate structure to adapt to CASE and reinforce our corporate management.
Of course, we expect that this merger will eliminate duplication of business activities conducted by the two companies and enhance efficiency. More importantly, we expect that human resources that have been fostered in different environments will be blended together to create new value. Although you may have differing opinions, please try to understand each other as soon as possible by communicating through ATBA* and other means.
The merger is a mere means, and its objective is survival and growth of the AISIN Group.
Today, the AISIN Group is truly at a crossroads as to whether it will survive or not. Over the past year, we have all prepared for the merger; however, we predict a bumpy road for the new company. We must make a success of this merger by all means for our survival. I urge you to communicate effectively with each other while keeping this in mind.
There is another thing that I ask of you. It is a more basic thing. What do you think is the most important thing in order to survive in this great era of transformation? It is the initiative of each and every AISIN employee, which I have mentioned as the first action guideline for our employees since I was appointed president. We will not be able to get through this difficult situation if we adopt the passive attitude that someone else will do things for us. I want each of you to think and take on challenges for yourself as a member of the new AISIN and AISIN Group. I urge you to take concrete action while following your dreams and aspirations.
I firmly believe that if each one of us takes on challenges with initiative, we can pave the way for growth.
Using the new philosophy of "Inspiring 'movement', creating tomorrow" as a compass, the entire AISIN Group must work together to take on challenges!
