Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. and Finefit Design Company, an in-house company of Chunichi Suwa Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, President: Kenji Maeda; hereinafter "Chunichi Suwa Optoelectronics"), will release a driver monitoring system linked with a driving recorder for business operators in March 2019.

This product is a system intended for business operators, linking Aisin Seiki's driver monitoring system, which detects the driver's face orientation, gaze direction, and eye closure with Chunichi Suwa Optoelectronics' driving recorder capable of recording clear, high-definition images both day and night. If the driver monitoring system detects the driver becoming drowsy or distracted, an alarm will be activated to alert the driver. By recording images and alarm information in the driving recorder, the system can be used by business operators for various purposes such as analyzing driver behavior and tendencies and driver education.

In 2006, Aisin Seiki was the first in the world to develop a driver monitoring system that detects the driver's face direction. Since then, to eliminate traffic accidents caused by distracted or drowsy driving, the company has continued to upgrade the system by adding new functions and enhancing detection accuracy. Equipped with artificial intelligence, the new system has achieved remarkable improvement in the accuracy of detecting face orientation, gaze direction, and eyelid closure and in face recognition performance even when subjects are wearing masks or sunglasses.
Chunichi Suwa Optoelectronics develops and provides in-vehicle equipment including DLP projectors and sensors, which are key elements of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), based on its unique imaging/projection optical technologies accumulated through its development of digital cameras and projectors. Finefit Design, an in-house company of Chunichi Suwa Optoelectronics, offers various onboard devices such as driving recorders and digital tachographs. Finefit Design also offers customized products including onboard devices with built-in communications functions.

With the aim of realizing a safe and secure automobile society where everyone can live comfortably, we will continue pursuing technological development to create innovative products and services that meet customers' needs.
