Toyota Motor Corporation's new Crown model (released June 26) contains various AISIN Group products that contribute to further improvements in stability, handling and other aspects of driving performance. The three new products are as follows:

1. Adjustable Damping Force Absorber (Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd.)

The Adjustable Damping Force Absorber, a driving safety product that contributes to the New Crown's outstanding driving performance, is installed in the RS grade model. Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kariya, Aichi, President: Kiyotaka Ise) has been developing this product as a system supplier since 2012, and has achieved outstanding performance with an integrated system incorporating algorithms that can accurately and quantitatively gauge vehicle state, an absorber with a wide range of adjustable damping force, and an ECU that optimally controls the system.

For this product, we jointly developed a new valve with KYB Corporation and expanded the damping force adjustment range, thereby achieving even more superior levels of handling and ride comfort.

2. Exterior Door Handle (Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd.)

The Exterior Door Handle offers a high-quality texture and excellent driving performance in line with the vehicle concept. It incorporates an aero stabilizing fin element in a design that adjusts flow of air to improve handling stability, especially contributing to improved straight-line stability and steering response. In addition, the thickness and shape of the grip is ergonomically optimized to improve the comfortable feel of the very first part the user touches.

3. Felco 8000 Structural Adhesive (Aisin Chemical Co., Ltd. [Head Office: Toyota, Aichi, President: Shigeki Fuji)

This Structural Adhesive strongly bonds steel plates to one another, enhancing the body rigidity of the vehicle and contributing to improved handling stability.

The aluminum front suspension tower, which incorporates this product, has a hybrid aluminum and iron body for vehicle weight reduction. Combined use of self-piercing rivets and this product prevents electrolytic corrosion* and contributes to improved rigidity, bonding what used to be difficult to weld due to differences in melting point between aluminum and iron.
