Talking about Aisin’s futureAisin will provide safety and inspiration, for all vehicles across the globe
Now that environmental issues, such as depletion of resources, have been becoming increasingly serious on a global scale, it is an important task for companies to reduce their impact on the environment and make more effective use of resources. In these times, the aftermarket parts business is one of the fields that is drawing attention.
Aftermarket refers to the segment of the industry that provides various products and services after the sale of a new vehicle. Aisin’s Aftermarket division provides repair and spare parts and services, ensuring the safety and longetivy of vehicles across the globe.
In addition to the focus on the environment, the accelerating shift to electric vehicles is significantly transforming the automobile industry. Under these circumstances, how will our Aftermarket division develop its business and adapt to the ever-changing global needs? Aisin Aftermarket President Umemura has the answers:
- 1. We will continue to meet and exceed the needs of our customers around the world
- 2. By making effective use of resources, we will respond to new needs associated with electrification
- 3. And, we will ensure global deployment with speedy and appropriate actions
Aftermarket President Shinro Umemura
We will continue to meet and exceed the needs of our customers around the world
Offering regionally tailored products and services at 36 sites in 17 countries worldwide
"Aisin has developed its aftermarket business by providing a wide range of automobile repair parts and maintenance items, taking advantage of its abundant experience as a comprehensive automotive parts manufacturer. In recent years, as improvements in performance have prolonged the service life of vehicles, there are new demands arising in the aftermarket.
Our Aftermarket division has also been working to expand its business into the global market. At present, we do business at 36 sites in 17 countries around the world. Our next focus will be on builiding Aisin's globally-trusted brand by meeting the unique needs of local users. I think it is our duty to continue to provide parts and services that are necessary for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of vehicles long after they are purchased. Today, it is said that there are more than a billion cars operating in the world. We have the opportunity to impact each and every person in each one of those cars, and we are making efforts to ensure their safety and comfort each and every day," said President Umemura.
One such effort is the initiative to become “a department store of automotive parts” that offers a broad range of products and services tailored to different local characteristics. Aisin has always provided repair and replacement parts, such as clutches and brake pads, and add-on accessories, such as door stabilizers, in the world market. Now it has begun to expand its product lineups to quick-service parts, such as filters and wipers, in order to satisfy the diversifying needs of car users.
Anytime, anywhere One-stop shop for car parts
"The situation surrounding automobiles varies significantly among regions, making the global expansion of our business difficult," Umemura continued. "For example, some countries, like Japan, have established parts supply networks while others do not. Thus, the standards differ greatly among regions.
“In some areas of the world, parts are washed with oil and assembled on the street. It is impossible to do business without knowing about the end user's unique needs. To better determine and understand the needs of local customers, each of our operation sites around the world is conducting activities deeply rooted in local communities. Through such activities, they are working to establish sales systems that enable provision of appropriate products needed in each region at competitive prices.
“Overseas, there is a large network of out-of-warranty used vehicles which are not covered by car manufacturers. When these cars and trucks break down in these regions, it is often the case that only extremely expensive repair/replacement parts or, worse yet, imitation or inferior products are available in their local market. Aisin will listen to voices of these users by providing OEM-quality parts to these regions at competitive aftermarket costs. This will ensure the safety, security and longevity of vehicles across the globe."
Furthermore, Aisin's Aftermarket divison is planning to proactively expand its overseas operation sites in areas where the used car market is poised for growth.
“Naturally we will continue to enhance operations in China, ASEAN, and Central and South America, but we will also focus on establishing our presence in Africa and India. Development of a new market will directly lead to opportunities for new business.
I hope to make Aisin “a department store of automotive parts" where you can get any car parts you want, wherever you are in the world, just by calling AISIN."
By making effective use of resources, we will respond to new needs associated with electrification
Establishing an environment where every person on the planet can feel safe while riding in a car
Aisin's Aftermarket division has embarked on the rebuilt parts business, which preserves the entirety of the product by fixing only the broken part. This business provides a significant reduction in wasteful use of resources while also providing a signifcant cost reduction to the end user.
Aisin has also been working on businesses in response to the rapid shift t electric vehicles, focusing efforts on the development of next-generation products. For example, the Aftermarket division now offers electric water pumps for hybrid and electric vehicles at reasonable prices after adjusting them specifically to local aftermarket needs.
President Umemura says, with confidence, that the advantage of our Aftermarket business is “the ability to provide a broad range of highest-quality products and services that incorporate AISIN Group's accumulated technologies and are also custom-tailored to local needs.”
“There are still many things we can do to contribute to our society - and our future vision of an Internet-based sales and service business will increase convenience for users and help to create a safe, comfortable and exciting mobility experience.”
