Aisin Seiki created and distributed to all employees the Business Ethics Guidelines as a standard of behavior to ensure employees follow social rules and manners. The main concepts of the Guidelines are as follows.
- Workplace environment
To prevent conduct from becoming an ethical problem, each and every person at the workplace will understand the gap between “common practices at the workplace” and “normal morals of society (individual)”.
- Employee privacy
Information related to personal privacy, whether or not such data is managed and stored by the company, shall never be disclosed externally without justifiable cause.
- Protection of corporate assets
Corporate assets will be used in an appropriate and effective manner and will not be used for dishonest or unjustifiable purposes.
- Accurate descriptions of information including internal documents and externally submitted documents
Required information will be promptly and accurately recorded, in which documents submitted outside the company will be described accurately and will not be reported using expressions that are likely to cause fallacy or misunderstanding.
- Unethical conduct at the workplace or company-wide
In instances where venial violation of the rules or workplace misconduct is found, the issue will be initially discussed at the workplace. In cases where a matter cannot be resolved through discussions, efforts will be made for early resolution through in-house consultation.
- Confrontation with anti-social forces
With regard to anti-social forces, which threaten the order of civil society and pose an impediment to economic activities, the company will firmly be aware of its social responsibility and encounter these forces based on the fundamental principle of “Don't pay,” “Don’t use,” and “Don't be afraid.”
- Conflict with company interests
Conduct will be refrained from that is considered to be at risk to company profits for personal gain.
- Use of internal information and insider trading
Internal confidential information will not be used for personal gain. Specifically, with regard to purchases and sales of shares, insider trading or suspicious conduct will not be tolerated.
- Other private activities
We will not be involved in illegal or anti-social acts. To prevent inadvertent involvement, we will diligently take a sensible course of action by possessing sound common sense and a sense of morality.
We will bear in mind consistent and systematic consumption, a sound and healthy life and observance of common sense.
- Approach toward customers and consumers
We will conduct conscientious and appropriate business based on customer and consumer perspectives. Additionally, we will provide accurate product and other information to ensure customer and consumer assurance.
- Approach toward agents and distributors
We will observe laws regulating fraudulent transactions, such as antitrust laws, in conducting business with agents and distributors.
- Stance and relationship with competitors
In cases where we come into contact or business is conducted with competitors, we will observe laws regulating competition such as antitrust laws. We will not criticize or slander competitors or their products, or illegally obtain confidential information of competitors.
- Stance and relationship with suppliers
In cases where business is conducted with suppliers, we will observe laws such as the Subcontract Law and conduct fair transactions on an equal footing with suppliers.
- Gifts and business entertainment
While gifts and business entertainment are provided for building smooth business relationships, excessive gifts or business entertainment resulting in special advantages will not be given or received.
- Intellectual property rights
There are cases where other companies have the rights to technology as intellectual property rights as well as technical rights such as know-how that are not expressly granted. Whether or not these constitute intangible assets, we respect other such rights in the same manner as tangible assets.
- Product safety
We provide safe products so that customers and consumers can use them with reassurance in their daily life. With regard OEM (original equipment manufacturer) products as well, we fulfill our responsibilities as a manufacturer and always adopt the stance of valuing and taking customers and consumers into consideration.
- Compliance with relevant international laws and regulations
With the globalization of corporate activities, we will constantly keep abreast of the status of relevant international laws and regulations and take care to ensure that we do not violate these laws and regulations.
