Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (President: Yasuhito Yamauchi; Headquarters: Kariya, Aichi) officially announced that it will establish the AISIN TECHNICAL CENTER OF AMERICA, INC. in the United States that will be responsible for automotive components development in North America.

In the past, almost of all the development of the company’s automotive parts for North America were conducted in Japan. Plymouth, Michigan, USA-based Aisin World Corp. of America (AWA), which has sales responsibilities in the US, had been modifying parts such as door and exterior parts in order to conform local vehicle types.  However, in recent years, automotive manufacturers have requested stronger development capabilities in North America due to the necessity of faster proposal transaction (completion) and conformance validation at the vehicle development stage.

While the automotive market in North America has slowed considerably, it is still the top market in the world that makes up more than 4% of Aisin Group Overseas Sales. This is an important reason that we Aisin made the decision to establish this new subsidiary and to promote localizing development capacity for further business expansion in North America.

The new company will spin off from AWA and Aisin Seiki will have 100% investment in it.  Most of the 70 employees are engineers and main business fields at Aisin Seiki such as Body, Drivetrain, Electronics and Engine will be covered by these employees. Aisin plans to have a core responsibility in developing products for North America including product planning, advance development, and actual vehicle conformance while increasing its US developed parts gradually.

Aisin continuously aspires for business expansion in the global market, and as it reinforces production bases around the world, it will keep improving its Sales and Development systems.
