ADVICS to Begin ESC Production in North America (Feb 5, 2007)

ADVICS Co., Ltd.

ADVICS Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, president: Dr. Haruhiko Saito.) today announced that it will begin production of ESC (Electronic Stability Control) in 2008, demand for which is expected to grow rapidly, in North America; ADVICS intends to establish a local production system.

ADVICS plans to set up a production line with a capacity of 600,000 units/year at ADVICS Manufacturing Ohio, Inc., one of its North American production bases, and to further expand production capacity to match market expansion.

Demand for ESC is expected to increase rapidly in North America due to the recent announcement of a change in policy of the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) requiring the installation of ESC in all vehicles in a bid to reduce the number of traffic fatalities, and so ADVICS aims to increase its sales in the North American market, centered around electronically controlled brake systems, from the current 680 million U.S. dollars to 1 billion U.S. dollars by around 2010.

ADVICS hopes to contribute to the enrichment of society through its range of appealing products while passionately pursuing "environmental friendliness", "safety" and "comfort".
